As a Technology Alignment Administrator, you’ll be the person who collects, documents and shares details about clients’ IT environments. You’ll gather information about hardware, software, licensing and user data using network scanning and reporting tools. When new clients are onboarded, you’ll play an integral role in getting everyone up to speed by creating documentation that will be the reference material for all who work with the client from the help desk technicians to the vCIO.
Technology Alignment Administrators are in close communication with clients. You’ll schedule periodic onsite visits and be involved in regular meetings. You’ll not only know the clients’ technology, you’ll become their go-to person when needs or questions arise.
The vCIOs will count on you to get them up to speed when they’re preparing to meet with clients. Whether the client is in the middle of an IT project, they’re bringing on new employees, or there are red flags that need attention, sharing your knowledge will help the vCIOs be aware of everything that’s going on with the client and set priorities for the clients’ IT strategy.
Because you’ll know client IT systems like the back of your hand, you’ll collaborate with the help desk and project teams. In addition to regular meetings, you’ll be a valuable resource when the team needs a deeper understanding of the intricacies of the clients’ IT environments.
When you get wind of changes in the air, like anticipating new hires, the sales team will appreciate it if you pass that info along. They’ll keep you up to date with changes in service and product offerings so that when a client asks about something new, you’ll be able to respond and point them in the right direction.
There are a lot of routine tasks involved with this role, but since no two client environments are exactly the same, there’s also a lot of variety. You’ll know you had a good day when you’ve made progress through your checklists and have handled any immediate client needs and team questions as they arose. You’ll gain confidence as your knowledge increases and gain satisfaction knowing that what you do is part of the foundation for success of your team as well as the client.
This role requires a mix of technical skills and strategic thinking. There’s a lot of head-down work with documentation, but an equal amount of interaction with other people so you’ll need to be an outstanding communicator. In this role, you won’t be working hands-on with technology, but you need to have a solid technical knowledge base.
We’ll support your professional growth with training that will both help you develop your skills and deepen our team’s capabilities. Our company is growing, so management opportunities within Technology Alignment may be a possibility down the road. If you find you need to be more involved with technology implementation and troubleshooting or want to move into Sales or become a vCIO, we’ll work with you to help you develop a roadmap for where you want to go in your career.
