XPERTECHS Supports Houston Food Bank with Donation to Provide 9,000 Meals
(Houston, TX – December 30, 2024) – XPERTECHS has expanded its holiday giving tradition with its first donation to the Houston Food Bank, helping provide 9,000 meals for Texans in need. With every dollar donated contributing to nine meals, this support will address immediate hunger needs while also aiding programs designed to promote stability and self-sufficiency.
As part of its annual tradition, XPERTECHS made this donation in lieu of sending holiday gifts to clients. This approach began in 2020 with donations to the Maryland Food Bank, which the company has supported for several years. Extending the tradition to Texas reflects XPERTECHS’ commitment to addressing hunger in the communities it serves, including East Texas.
“The response from our clients to this tradition has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re pleased to expand our support to Houston,” said Mike Mellott, President of XPERTECHS. “The Houston Food Bank addresses both immediate hunger and long-term stability, making it a meaningful way for us to give back.”
As one of the largest food banks in the United States, the Houston Food Bank serves as a hub for innovative programs that tackle the underlying causes of hunger. By combining food distribution with initiatives that teach nutrition, budgeting, and other life skills, the organization is equipping individuals and families with tools to break the cycle of food insecurity.
Some of the programs offered include:
- Backpack Buddy: Nutritious, kid-friendly food provided for at-risk children in schools.
- Food For Change: Strategically distributing food to encourage participation in community support programs.
- Kids Cafe: Year-round meals served at child care, after-school, and summer program sites.
- Nutrition Education & Health Promotion: Classes in nutrition, food safety, meal preparation, and budgeting.
- School Market: Supplying food to students and their families at middle and high schools.
- Senior Box Program: Monthly food boxes for low-income seniors and other individuals.
