XPERTECHS Supports Houston Food Bank for Second Year

For the second year, XPERTECHS is supporting the Houston Food Bank on behalf of our clients in Texas. This donation continues the tradition we started in 2020 when we shifted funds from traditional client gifts to support organizations fighting food insecurity in the communities we serve.
This year’s donation provides 9,000 meals to neighbors across the Houston Food Bank’s 18-county service area, where more than one million people face food insecurity.
Addressing Immediate Needs and Long-Term Solutions
“We’re glad to continue our support of the Houston Food Bank,” said Mike Mellott, President of XPERTECHS. “What impresses us is how they address both immediate needs and long-term stability. They’re not just providing meals – they’re helping people build better futures.”
More than one million people in the Houston Food Bank’s service area are food insecure, meaning they don’t have reliable access to nutritious food. Life’s unexpected challenges – job loss, medical emergencies, or rising cost of living – can quickly leave hardworking families needing help.
Nation’s Largest Food Bank
The Houston Food Bank is the nation’s largest food bank in the U.S. by distribution, providing access to 140 million meals annually through a network of more than 1,600 community partners across 18 southeast Texas counties.
Their programs go beyond emergency food distribution. Backpack Buddy provides weekend food for at-risk kids. Kids Cafe serves year-round meals at after-school programs. The Community Assistance Program helps people navigate applications for SNAP, Medicaid, and other services. Nutrition education classes teach food safety, meal preparation, and budgeting skills.
“The response from our Texas clients has been just as positive as what we’ve seen in Maryland,” said Joe Mellott, Vice President of XPERTECHS. “They appreciate supporting an organization with this kind of comprehensive reach and impact.”
