XPERTECHS Continues Six-Year Tradition with Donation to Maryland Food Bank

This holiday season, XPERTECHS is supporting the Maryland Food Bank on behalf of our clients for the sixth consecutive year. What began as a shift from traditional client gifts has become one of our most valued annual traditions – funds that once purchased edible fruit arrangements now help fight food insecurity in Maryland.

This year’s donation provides 10,000 meals to neighbors in need. By making it on Giving Tuesday (December 2, 2025), that impact doubles because every dollar donated on Giving Tuesday goes twice as far.

From Empty Offices to Community Impact

“When the pandemic sent everyone home in 2020, sending fruit arrangements to empty offices didn’t make sense anymore,” said Mike Mellott, President of XPERTECHS. “We redirected those funds to the Maryland Food Bank instead. The response from clients has been overwhelmingly positive, and it’s become a tradition we look forward to each year.”

Meals and a Pathway to Stability

The Maryland Food Bank takes a two-pronged approach to fighting hunger: expanding access to nutritious food today while creating opportunities for long-term self-sufficiency tomorrow.

Through programs like FoodWorks, they provide culinary training that prepares people for well-paying careers in the food industry. They partner with workforce development organizations to offer job training in IT, healthcare, and solar energy. Their Farm to Food Bank program delivers fresher, healthier produce across the state. And they help their network partners offer wraparound services through financial literacy programs, healthcare access, and transportation assistance.

“Our clients value this more than traditional gifts,” said Joe Mellott, Vice President of XPERTECHS. “They like knowing that the gift we give on their behalf is to an organization creating lasting change.”
