It is hard to believe that summer vacations have ended and once again we are refocusing on our business goals and objectives for the final stretch of 2012.  If you are like me, the summer ended much too quickly and I haven’t accomplished all I set out to this summer.

Back in June, 6.3 million passwords were reported stolen when a hacker was able to access LinkedIn’s servers. The news made headlines instantly and everyone in the office (and online) was talking about it. Clearly this is a public-relations nightmare for the company and one that will, for sure, have a ripple effect for months, possibly years, as they deal with the fallout from their clients and potential lawsuits.

With millions of people coming online, the number of IP addresses is exhausted and a new standard for identifying computers and devices has come online: IPv6. So what is an “IP” address anyway and what will this NEW addressing system mean to you? First, let’s start at the beginning:

Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter: Can Employers Demand Employees Give Up Their Login Info

Here’s a new question that’s being discussed in the courts: Do employers have the right to ask new hires for their username and password to various social media sites? According to the state of Maryland, the answer is, “No.”

Recently the Maryland General Assembly passed legislation that prevents employers in the state from asking prospective employees for their login information for various social media sites, including Facebook and Twitter.
