As a Senior Microsoft Engineer, you’ll be our go-to expert for building, migrating and managing infrastructure and data storage solutions on the Azure platform. You’ll have big blocks of time to focus on projects but you also may need to quickly shift your focus to troubleshooting when issues arise in any of the Microsoft networks we manage for clients. In addition to working with Azure, you may be called on for Teams Phone migrations, and to configure Microsoft software products for security and optimal performance.
You’ll be a part of a team of IT Engineers who pool their knowledge and act as resources for each other as we build and manage client IT environments. You’ll often work closely with Field Engineers, who perform onsite hardware installations.
Project Engineers will rely on your contributions to plan and implement successful IT improvements, and you may participate in client calls with Project Managers and vCIOs to determine scope of work, project timelines and to discuss outcomes the client can expect when the project is complete.
You’ll work closely with Security Engineers to configure security settings in Microsoft products and provide guidance for how Azure environments will interact with new security tools.
The Support Team may call on you to provide guidance for issues that need escalation.
A good day could be when you’ve been able to spend most of your time uninterrupted as you architect new IT environments. On another day, you’ll gain satisfaction knowing that your fast response prevented a client from having a downtime event. You know that your vigilant attention to documenting everything you do helps the team and team members views you as a trusted resource.
This isn’t an entry-level role, so along with a passion for working with Microsoft products you need a few years of experience under your belt. Some certifications to validate your expertise wouldn’t hurt either. You need to be the type of person who can focus on the task at hand for large blocks of time, but you also need to be adaptable. An interruption should just realign your attention, not ruin your whole day. There may be some evening or weekend work when there’s troubleshooting or a cut-over to do, and you can be somewhat flexible about which hours of the day you work when those things need to happen.
XPERTECHS is a growing company so there may be room for you to grow into a managerial position. If you find that the security side of technology is what energizes you, you could look at developing your career in that direction. In any case, you’ll have ongoing opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills as Microsoft continues to change and introduce new products. Working at an MSP will also bring the challenge that comes with working with a variety of different companies and industries along with their unique IT systems.
What you’ll find at XPERTECHS is a team of technology specialists who love to help people. We value collaboration and communication, and the relationships that are naturally forged when people enjoy working together. The company is family owned and operated by two generations.
